January 1, 2020. The deadline for R404A. From this day no new plants with the refrigerant R404A may be erected. This is decided upon with the entry into force of the tightened F-Gas Regulation from the beginning of 2015 and applies to all EU member states.
Why?
The GWP value of R404A is 3922. As of January 1, 2020, according to the F-Gas Regulation, refrigerants with a GWP value of more than 2500 may no longer be used.
But!
Existing refrigeration systems, air conditioners and heat pumps may be topped up by the end of 2029 without restriction for maintenance and servicing of recycled refrigerant .
Newly manufactured R404A is excluded from this.
