Indirect Free Cooling with STULZ Explorer

STULZ Explorers are available with integrated Free Cooling. In moderate and cold climates, they significantly contribute to more efficient operation and resulting cost savings.

Free Cooling. Guaranteed energy savings.

With Free Cooling, the chilled water is cooled through outdoor air. It can completely replace the refrigeration cycle, allowing the compressors to be turned off.

Operating Modes

Compressor operation: During high outdoor temperatures, the flow of chilled water through the free cooling registers is blocked. The entire cooling capacity is generated using the compressor.

Mixed operation: At outdoor temperatures below the water inlet temperature, part of the cooling capacity is generated through the free cooling registers. The remaining heat is dissipated via the refrigeration cycle.

Free Cooling: Depending on water and outdoor temperatures, the chilled water is cooled solely using the outdoor temperature. Only the fans of the chiller are operated. This significantly reduces energy demand and minimizes operating costs.
