RefHP® high-pressure solder fittings for transcritical areas: Sustainable alternative to stainless steel

Piping systems for sub- and transcritical systems

SANHA® provides two different piping systems for cooling and refrigeration, with which all requirements in the sub- and transcritical area can be covered: the stainless steel press system NiroTherm (e.g. for glycol) and the high-pressure solder fittings RefHP® for CO2 cooling systems.

Refrigerants such as CO2  (R744), which are increasingly being used, require higher operating pressures. We offer the high-pressure fittings series 29000 RefHP® especially for this challenge: The solder fittings and pipes are made of the particularly stable copper-iron material CuFe2P. Therefore they withstand pressures of up to 130 bar and can be used in a wide range at operating temperatures between -196 °C to +150 °C.

High-pressure solder fittings offer many advantages over stainless steel or brass:

  • A professional TIG welder is a highly skilled employee - with all the costs that come with it. However, solder fittings can be installed by almost anyone who can solder.
  • This not only makes soldering faster, but also significantly reduces costs, both per hour and overall.
  • A TIG welder has to refresh his knowledge every year, which requires a lot of training. Obviously, an employee in a training course does not work at the same time.

In the past, solder fittings for refrigeration and cooling systems were often made from brass. Again, copper alloys such as CuFe have proven to be the superior system, leading to a shift towards the latter.

  • Brass must be heated very slowly and carefully. This can lead to a time saving of up to 25 %.
  • For operating pressures of 90 and even up to 130 bar!
  • RefHP fittings are compatible with all four CuFe pipe types available on the market, which means they offer a high level of flexibility:
    • KME-CL12
    • HALCOR-TALOS XS
    • Mueller-XHP
    • Wieland-K65
  • Extensive range of high-pressure solder fittings up to 2 5/8"
  • Highest corrosion resistance (especially compared to carbon steel
  • Brass fittings are turned, which can lead to thin wall thicknesses, especially in the case of reductions. While not necessarily critical, this creates a weak point in any plant where vibration and high pressure are encountered. RefHP fittings, on the other hand, are made by hydroforming, which eliminates weak points and creates a stronger, more reliable end product.

Experience since 1964, production in Europe

Not only can we look back on more than 50 years of experience in the production of solder fittings. Our RefHP fittings are also compatible with all four CuFe tube types available on the market and offer a high degree of flexibility (CL12 by KME, TALOS XS by HALCOR, XHP by Mueller and K65 by Wieland). In combination with the wide range of fittings up to 2 1/8" as well as special fittings for manufacturers of refrigeration systems, RefHP is a good choice for installers and builders.
