Johnson Matthey solders and fluxes
Johnson Matthey Metal Joining offers a wide range of different brazing alloys, high temperature brazing alloys, soft solders and brazing and soft soldering fluxes.
Silver brazing alloys
Silver-flo™ products are primarily used for brazing the following materials:
Steel (unalloyed and low-alloy steel. Stainless steel) * Copper and copper alloys, including brass, bronze, nickel silver and aluminum bronze Carbide and diamond segments. *Note: Precautions must be taken to prevent interfacial/crevice corrosion for soldered joints on stainless steels that are exposed to moisture or an aggressive atmosphere during use)
Argo-braze™ solders are mainly used for brazing the following materials:
- Carbide and polycrystalline diamond segments (PCD)
- Steel (unalloyed and low-alloy steel, tool steel, stainless steel)
- Copper and copper alloys, including brass, bronze, nickel silver and aluminum bronze
- Materials such as cast iron and aluminum bronze
Ag-Cu-P and Cu-P solders
Matti-fos brazing alloys are recommended for flux-free brazing of copper to copper. A compatible flux must be used when brazing copper alloys such as brass, bronze, nickel silver and aluminum bronze. Matti-fos has the best ductility among the phosphorus-containing silver-copper filler metals. Matti-fos 6 has the best flow properties but lower ductility. Matti-fos 5 offers the best combination of good flow properties and high ductility.
Copper-flo™ brazing alloys are recommended for flux-free copper brazing. They have a lower ductility than the silver-containing phosphorus solders.
Flux
The Easy-flo™ flux range includes standard fluxes and fluxes for special applications:
- Easy-flo™ standard flux
- Easy-flo™ flux with special properties
- Easy-flo™ A and K Grade are special formulations for selected markets (Switzerland, Germany and Austria)
- Easy-flo™ flux for special materials
The Tenacity line of fluxes are specifically designed for long heat cycle, low silver alloy and copper based solders:
- Boron Modified Fluxes
- Flux pastes for hard and high temperature soldering
- Flux for special applications
The Alu-flo™ range of fluxes are for hard-oiling aluminum alloys.
- Alu-flo™ Nr.1 is an active, chloride-based brazing flux with corrosive flux residues
- Alu-flo™ Nr.2 is an active fluoride-based brazing flux with non-corrosive flux residues
- Alu-flo™ Nr.3 is cesium based
Soft solders and soft solder fluxes
Johnson Matthey carries a wide range of soft solder alloys for industrial applications
- Lead-free soft solders
- Silver-tin-lead and silver-lead soft solders
- Soft solder containing indium
Various fluxes are available in liquid form or as a paste for soft soldering.
- Soldering flux
