Refrigeration oils

Bock, Wolfgang; Pühl, Christian Refrigeration oils

Special high-purity, refrigerant-compatible and system-compatible refrigeration machine oils are required to lubricate the refrigerant compressors used in the cycle of a refrigeration system. The development of refrigeration oils is closely linked to developments in the field of refrigerants. The refrigerants in connection with the lubricants must meet the requirements of the machine builders and the compressor manufacturers, taking into account the specific operating parameters of the refrigeration systems.

In the field of lubricants and lubrication technology, refrigeration machine oils occupy a special place. The actual main task of the refrigeration machine oil is to ensure adequate lubrication of all moving engine parts of the refrigeration compressor. The long service life that is expected of refrigeration compressors is closely related to the high quality requirements for the lubricating oils to be used. The book presents the market-leading refrigeration oils with their properties and areas of application.

Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Bock started in 1991 as a mechanical engineer in the application technology for industrial oils at what was then Fuchs Mineralölwerke GmbH, Mannheim. Today he heads the product management division for industrial oils at Fuchs Europe Schmierstoffe GmbH and the Fuchs Group International. Dipl.-Ing. Christian Puhl is a chemical engineer and is responsible for the coordination of marketing and development activities in the field of refrigeration oils in the industrial oils department at Fuchs.
