The Grasso screw

The Grasso Group develops and manufactures reciprocating and screw compressors for industrial refrigeration. Depending on the operating conditions, both compressor types have their specific advantages.

The efficiency of these fluid energy machines is particularly evident in the screw compressor. The idea of ​​compressing refrigerants using two interlocking rotors came about as early as 1878. It took until the end of the 1960s before the efficient screw geometry could be manufactured at all.

Refrigeration technology is essential for global progress. For example, it helps to build more environmentally friendly cars, to develop more effective medicines, to make food last longer or to be able to live comfortably in the shade even at 40°C. Our research and development team is constantly working on further developments. For this purpose, the department is equipped with one of the world's largest test benches for cooling units in addition to considerable financial resources. In addition to the further optimization of angularity and energy efficiency, the focus is also on the use of particularly environmentally friendly natural refrigerants. The use of ammonia and carbon dioxide avoids the greenhouse effect and ozone depletion.
